OCC ~ Crazy For Hearts

Look ma....two Stampin' Up! cards two days in a row!  When I saw this challenge I knew I would use my new set, Love You Much.  I used the Top Note Die with some of the Candy Lane DSP.  The oval and the sentiment tag are both Nestabilities.  The hearts were stamped in Riding Hood Red on Vintage Cream (PTI) and were cut out.  I added some shine to the flowers with a Sakura Clear Glaze Pen, then added a Filigree brad over one of the flowers.  The Kraft layer was embossed with the Swiss Dots embossing folder.  I think that should do it on the details.  If you have any other questions, feel free to shoot me an email!

TECC53 Cute & Cuddly

  Here is my sample from today's sketch, TECC53.  I just got a box of goodies from Stampin' Up! yesterday and couldn't wait to get this new set, Cute & Cuddly, inky!  I am a sucker for a cute baby set...I'm not sure why as I am not having any more babies nor are any of my friends....but I go with it anyway!

Details:  The cute teddy was stamped twice, colored with Copics and cut out.  I layered one bear on top of the other with dimensionals.  I stamped him a third time on this FANTASTIC new cardstock weight designer paper called Sweet Slumber and just cut out his tummy.  The sentiment is from a retired Stampin' Up! set called Short & Sweet.  It was punched out with word window punch and I added a Riding Hood Red button to hold it in place.

Prettie Wednesday, SC213

  Two weeks ago Jana challenged the Prettie girls to a very strict challenge!  Here are the rules:

Create a card or scrapbook page using the following items:
1 dry embossed piece (embossing folders and texture plates count!)
2 pieces of patterned paper
3 colors of solid card stock (this includes any neutrals you use)
4 embellishments
5 layers

So, the dry embossed piece must be one of your patterned papers or your 3 colors. And, at no point should there by more than 4 layers under a top piece of card stock. However, if you have your base card with a second layer on that...you may have multiple small pieces each with 2 layers under them...right? Oh...and you may use as many tools as you like. Guess this isn't so much limited as just very specific!

I'm not even sure if I followed them correctly, but I tried!!  I think I have five layers....I'm counting the snowflake w/sentiment as a layer.  My dry embossed piece is the Baja Breeze snowflake that was cut and EMBOSSED with a snowflake nestability.  My embellishments are brads, button, Heidi Swapp Ghost snowflake, and Dazzling Diamonds.   Oh, does paper piercing count?  If so, then that's five and I definitely broke the rules!!  LOL!

I used today's sketch challenge for the layout and the newly released Gliding By Sophia for the image.  Paper Pretties just released this stamp and a brand new set called Flirty Fortunes for sale.  You can check it out on their store site.

Verve Project Parade

Hi everyone!  Are you aware that Verve is in the midst of their January Project Parade?  The theme this month is a Kid at Heart.  You can check out all of the details on this post....and if you decide to participate there is a prize involved!

Yesterday was my day to post my Kid At heart creation and this is what I made!  My girls wanted to make Valentine presents for their friends so we searched the web for ideas and found these Clearly Creative Card Purses on Nichole Heady's blog.  They are so easy to make and they are really cute in person!  We stuffed them with lots of goodies (candy, pencil, eraser, heartshaped notebook, ring pop, etc!).  This darling DP is from Making Memories the LOVE NOTES line.  The Verve set I used is called Sweet Valentine.  It's hard to tell from the picture, but there is Crystal Effects on the hearts.

Prettie Party Hangover

 Last night Paper Pretties celebrated their two year anniversary with a huge party in the forum on the Paper Pretties site.  It was a face paced, chatting frenzy with tons of amazing sneak peeks of the new sets from the design team!  It was a blast, but boy did it wear me out....thus the hangover, not your typical drink until you're sick type of hangover, but a hangover nonetheless!!  LOL!

This is a card I made with the new March Stamp of the Month called Ballerina Sophia.  These Sophia stamps get me all the time....I just love them!  If you love this image as much as I do, then you need to check out the Stamp of the Month Club.  You get the stamps the month before they are released to the public.  It's how I got started with Paper Pretties and I'm so glad I did. 

This card is pretty self explanatory so I won't go into great detail, but I'll give you a few highlights...The sketch is one of Mercy Kerin's sketches, MTSC21.  The faux stitching was done with a mat pack, paper piercer and and Inkssentials white gel pen (Ranger).  I poured a layer of Crystal Effects all over her skirt and then lightly sprinkled it with Dazzling Diamonds.

This second card I made uses the new set Flirty Fortunes.  To be honest, when I first saw this set I wasn't sure what I could do with it, but after seeing what a few of the other DT members did with it, it is going to be a favorite for sure!!  Again, I used another of Mercy's sketches (I'm hooked, I tell you!) MTSC27.  The DP is from Stampin' Up!'s Holiday Mini and it's called Autumn Vine.  The faux stitching was done with a mat pack, piercing tool and a Chocolate Chip marker.  The chocolate scallops were made with a Cornice Edge punch from Martha Stewart.  The rest is pretty self explanatory, but if you have any questions, feel free to shoot me an email!

If you're a regular here then you'll know that sketches are my favorite types of challenges!  I love when the hardest part of designing a card is already done for me!  I used a new set that was just released by Whipper Snapper (designed by Anna Wight, of course!) called Friendly Expressions.  The card is pretty straight forward so I won't go into great detail.  You can find the products I used in the recipe below but if you have any other questions feel free to shoot me an email!!

TECC52 A Year Of Cupcake Sketches Anniversary!!

Taylor is celebrating the one year anniversary of the Taylored Expressions Cupcake Challenge! She asked each of the ladies on the Weekly Cupcake Crew to design a sketch for the celebration. This is the sketch I designed and I hope you'll all play along with the challenge! I will be selecting one random winner from among all the participants in my challenge to win a $10 gift certificate from Taylored Expressions!

 

All you have to do is make a creation using this sketch (a card or scrapbooking layout) and post your creation to Splitcoast using keyword TECC52JP (for Taylored Expressions Cupcake Challenge 52 Jackie Pedro)  The deadline to be eligible for the prize drawing is Thursday, January 29th. I'll do the drawing on Thursday evening and announce the winner on Friday, January 30th.

Here is my sample with this week's sketch.  I just received my very first Stamping Bella order today (thanks to Julie Lacey's enabling!!) and couldn't wait ot ink up this adorable image called Cuppycake with a HUGGABUGG on Top.  Even the name is cute!  LOL!  The Huggabugg is raised up on dimensionals.  There is a little bit of Xmas Red Stickles on the cherries and the tips of her anntennas.  The DP is Urban Prairie by Basic Grey.

Prettie Pastel Wednesday

  Two weeks ago the lovely Charmaine challenged the Prettie girls to use Chalk Pastels to color our images....HUH????  I have chalk pastels that have been used maybe once and have tried to trade on the trade forum on SCS three times!!  LOL!  Needless to say, this was a difficult challenge for me.  Although it was hard, I am pretty pleased with how my card turned out.  It's simple and think a little masculine looking!  This card is going to Jessie....so I hope she likes it!

Card details:  The color combo is Brocade Blue, Creamy Caramel and White.  The main image is from the Paper Pretties set called Look Who's Perky.  It was stamped in Black Stazon on PTI white and I colored it with chalk pastels using an aquapainter.  It was a little too dull when it dried so I added crystal effects the the entire image and let it dry overnight.  The Creamy Caramel panel was embossed with the Distressed Stripes embossing folder.  The striped panel was stamped with the Fine Lines Backgrounder (CHF) with Brocade Blue ink.  The ribbon is Caramel Gingham from SU!  The sentiment was cut out with the Double Ended Tag Shapeabilities by Spellbinders.  Before I removed it from the die, I sponged some Brocade Blue ink so that it would have the white edge.  The brads are from the Rich Regals collection from SU!

CC202, MTSC18 You're the Best

 It seems like it's been so long since I've done a challenge over at SCS so I was determined to do the color challenge today, CC202 Regal Kisses, Bravo!  I wasn't too sure about these colors when I first saw the challenge, but after making my card I really like them together! 

This image is from Anna Wight's new set for Whipper Snapper called Fish Friends.  This set is so cute!  I stamped the flower in Memento Tuxedo Black two times on Papertrey White cardstock.  I colored the first one in with Copics, cut it out with rectangle Nestabilities and layered it on a piece of Regal Rose cardstock.  I colored just the top portion of the flower on the second image, cut it out and popped it up on dimensionals.  I added a little shine with a Sakura Glaze pen after it was adhered.  The sketch is from Mercy Kerin's blog, Lord Have Mercy.  She posts a new sketch challenge every Tuesday and I recently discovered them and am hooked!  This is sketch #18, MTSC18.  The burgundy DP is from Parisian Summer pack and the Kiwi Kiss DP is from the Bella Rose pack, both are by Stampin' Up!  The sentiment is from the same Whipper Snapper set and was stamped in Memento Black, cut out with a Nestabilities ribbon tag die.  Before I removed it from the die, I sponged some Regal Rose ink all over.  I love the white edge that is acheived by doing that!!  The button is Kiwi Kiss.
