Hi everyone!  Sorry for the late post, but I had such a busy day yesterday and just didn't get to my stamp area to make today's card for Taylor's Cupcake Sketch!   I got up this morning, got the girls to school and got busy on my card!  I don't know how Taylor comes up with so many great sketches but I really love this one!  I used my new Papertrey set called Bird Watching.  This is the cutest darn set....I can't wait to create some more with it!!

I'm Stampin' Out Alzheimers....

This is my second post for the day, so if you'd like to check out my Prettie Wednesday post, then just scroll down!

 

If you are not already aware, there is a huge fundraising event happening right now and it's called Stampin' Out Alzheimers.  A small donation (see link in the sidebar) gets you access to this week-long virtual stamping event, which has all sorts of challenges and chances to win some fabulous prizes. All proceeds from this event will go directly to the Alzheimer's Association.  This fundraising event was the brain child of my friend and fellow Verve Diva, Jen Tapler, whose father, only 58 years old, is now moving into the later stages of the disease.  You can read all about his story here.

I wanted to do what I could to help out so I made a donation and am now trying to participate in some of the wonderful challenges.  I made this card for two of the challenges, Taylor Van Bruggen's Sketch challenge and Karen Motz and Jodi Collins' Two by Two challenge, to use two embellishments and the colors pink and brown.  I may have cheated a bit (unintentionally) by adding the stitching, but I love the card anyway!!

It's a Nice Day for a White Wednesday....

 

So, do you like the title of my post?  LOL!  I can never think of anything original so I gave myself a good laugh when I came up with that title!  Well, two weeks ago I challenged the Prettie Girls to make a white on white card with the only color being the main image.  The challenge did not go over very well with the Prettie's....seems they didn't like me much that day!  Well, if I know my Prettie's, I know they rocked this challenge!  These cards are fun to make....you don't have to think about matchy matchy papers because everything is just white!!

Not much to explain on this card....I used white cardstock, white dew drops, white button, white embroidery floss, a couple embossing folders and some Nestabilites.....easy peasy!!

PTI Blog Hop!

 

I have been wanting to participate in a Papertrey Blog Hop for some time now, but was never organized enough to get it done!  Well, this month I MADE time!  The challenge this month was to use the color yellow to the best of it's potential on your card or project,  You could use it as an accent or as the main color.  I love yellow, especially PTI's Lemon Tart, so I paired it with Kraft and Summer Sunrise and a new set from PTI called Friends 'Til the End.

   

I started off using Jen del Muro's Sketch For You To Try from this week but veered from the sketch with the main image.  I stamped the sentiment in Memento Tuxedo Black on PTI White, cut it out with a Curved Rectangle Nestie and before removing it from the die, I sponged on some Lemon Tart Ink.  When you remove it from the die you have that beautiful white edge.  The flower and leaves were colored with Copics and cut out.  The Vintage White Button was threaded with some embroidery floss and adhered to the center of the flower with Crystal Effects.  I threaded the Summer Sunrise Ribbon after punching the slits with a Fiskars Ribbon Threader Punch.  This is my first time doing this and I just love how it looks!

Here is a close up of the card!  The adhesive rhinestones were a last minute thing because I felt it needed just a little sumthin' sumthin'!

Prettie Monday

 

Hi everyone and Happy Memorial Day to all of my friends in the US!  For my Prettie Monday post I decided to use the June Stamp of The Month from Paper Pretties, Give Thanks Sophia.  I paired her with the beautiful Citrus Stack papers from Die Cuts With a View that I recently purchased at Mike's.  I am in love with these papers!  The patterns and colors are beautiful!!!

Sophia was stamped in Memento Black ink on PTI White cardstock, her dressed was paper pieced and she was colored in with Copics.  I cut the image out with rectangle Nestabilities and added some Summer Sunrise Satin Ribbon to the corner.  The sketch is from the Prettie Weekly Challenge a couple of weeks ago,PWC52 and I'm finally using it!  It's hard to tell from the picture, but I added sparkle to the flower and Sophia's bow with a Copic Spica Glitter Pen.

Hot Air Balloons and more....

Hi everyone and Happy Memorial Day Weekend to my friends in the US!!  Last night Verve released some new stamps and I have a couple of cards to share that I made with some of the new sets!!

 

The first card uses the totally fun, whimsical and beautiful new set, Up Up and Away, which is the brain child of the brilliant Amy Sheffer.  She wanted a hot air balloon set so Julee Tilman designed one!!  LOVE it!!  I wanted a whimsical look to my card so I used the Sweet Slumber DSP from Stampin Up!  I stamped the balloon, masked it off to stamp the clouds, then masked the clouds so I could add some sky!  I paper pieced the balloon and added some stitching with my sewing machine.  The sentiment is from a new set called Dare to Be, a fantastic set of five sentiments like only Verve can do!!

 

This next card uses the new set called Dad's Day.  I finally broke open the Urban Oasis DP from SU! for this card.  I LOVE this dp!  Perfect for a masculine card.  The sentiments and the oval in this set are made to work with the Stampin' Up! Wide Oval Punch.  I was freaking out because I don't own that punch, but my upline and friend and newest Dirty Girl, Carolina Buchting, let me borrow hers!  Thanks, girlie!!  I added some black stitching to make the card pop.  I love the look.  It's hard to tell in the picture, but the black ribbon across the fron is actually one of those tailored type bows.  It did not photograph well at all!

It's Friday and it's time for another one of Taylor's fabulous sketches!  I have paired today's sketch with a peek at some of the newest VERVE scheduled to be released tonight!  I hope you can join us at the Verve Release Party at 9:00 PM EST in the Verve Forum.  It is tons of fun!!  Also, don't forget that all of the new sets are being peeked on the Verve Blog.  The Diva's have really outdone themselves again!  You will not be disappointed!

Okay, so onto my card...I used two new sets for this card.  The word "DAD" is from the set called Protector and the "World's Best" is from the set, World's Best.  The word DAD was stamped in Chocolate Craft ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder.  I think I need new embossing powder as it seems some little white flecks are in it!  The letters did not photograph well as they look almost black in the picture. I might try to retake the picture in better light today.  I added some stitching with my sewing machine...this was my first go at a regular stitch instead of the zig zag.  The stars were punched with the large and small star punches.  I also free handed the piercing around the main image.  DP is Parisian Breeze Specialty.

SC229 Trendy Thinking Of You

 

Hi everyone and Happy Thursday!!  Yesterday I made some time to participate in the sketch challenge over at SCS.  I have had this set from Stampin' Up! called Trendy Trees since the catty first came out and sadly this is the first time it's seen ink!  It won't be the last, though!  This card is also Stampin' Up! only....shocking, I know!  The card is very straight forward, so I won't go into detail, but if you have any questions, feel free to shoot me an email!

Prettie Challenge Wednesday....

 

Two weeks ago Jodi challenged the Prettie girls to a color challenge.  The challenge was to use the colors from the Fat Cat Stamps logo (Danielle Lounds new line).  The colors she challenged us to use were Pacific Point, Baja Breeze and Apricot Appeal.  They sounded okay until I sat down to make my card......Blech.....!!  LOL!  This card sat for two days unfinished because I just couldn't get the colors to my liking!  I finally finished it last night and am okay with it!  Thanks, Jodi!

I thought it only fitting that since we were using the colors from the Fat Cat Stamps logo that I also use Danielle's first set, Home Sweet Home.  I had yet to ink up the moving truck and I thought the colors were perfect for it!

CAS15 Happy Anniversary

 

Hi everyone!  It seems like forever since I have participated in a challenge over at Splitcoaststampers so I was thrilled to do yesterday's Clean and Simple Challenge, CAS15.  The challenge was to use Black, White and a Bold Bright.  I chose Real Red as my BB as I LOVE this color combo.  I also needed an anniversary card for a party we are going to this weekend for my DH's cousin.  She is celebrating her 25th wedding anniversary to her hubby. 

Here are some details on the card:  I used the Papertrey set by Melissa Bickford, Wishing You. I stamped the tulip stamp in Pure Poppy ink on PTI White and cut it out with Oval Nestabilities and then layered it on a Basic Black Scallop Oval Nestie.  The ribbon is Fresh Snow Satin Ribbon and the polka dot dp is the Pure Poppy Bitty Dot (has become an addiction....) that was scalloped with the Scallop Edge Punch.  It's pretty straight forward!  Nothing like a clean and simple card to get your creative juices flowing!

I also wanted to let you know that Verve is having a release party of some new fabulous stamps this Friday night at 9:00 PM EST in the Verve Forum on Splitcoast.  I have started working on some samples but can't show them just yet!  The sneak peeks start this Wednesday, May 20th, on the Verve Blog!!  Woohoo!  You don't want to miss it!
