FS106 Julie Lacey!!

FS106-Julie-Lacey_JP  Hi everyone!  Every Sunday SCS hosts a Featured Stamper Challenge.  I don't always get to participate because that is really a day for the family to spend together.  Last Sunday it was stormy and rainy here and we had nowhere to go and when I saw the Featured Stamper was my friend Julie Lacey, I HAD to stamp!  I LOVE Julie's clean, crisp, uncluttered style.  This is the card I chose to CASE.  I loved it so much I kept it pretty close to the original.  The things I changed were:  colors, DP, ribbon, added stitching, a sentiment and some piercing.

In some other news:

Verve Stamps is having a SUPER SALE!  They are making room for their biggest, and I must say AMAZING, March stamp release!  You can see all the details here.  Sale prices are good through February 28th, while supplies last.

I hope you have a great Thursday!  Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by!!

TECC55 Love You Much

TECC55-Love-You-Much_JP  It's Friday and it's time for another one of Taylor's Cupcake Sketch Samplers.  I have to admit, this sketch was a doozy for me, although I am happy with the final outcome....sort of!

I used the Love You Much set along with the coordinating Candy Lane DP from Stampin' Up!  I stamped the main image in Memento Tuxedo Black onto Vintage Cream by PTI.  I colored it in with Copics and cut it out with circle Nestabilities.  I covered the flower with a filigree brad and added a little piercing around the Close to Cocoa circle.  The ribbon is Riding Hood Red Taffeta and the yummy brads in the upper right corner are the new Chocolate Cordouroy brads from Stampin' Up!  I {heart} them so much!  LOL!  The hearts were punched out with the Heart To Heart punch.

TECC55     Now it's your turn to try the sketch.  Taylor will choose the most clever, creative and cute creation from the submissions this weekend to be the Featured Cupcake Sampler next week.  Your design and blog will be featured on her blog during Cupcake Friday.  You're welcome to create something other than a card, but just stick to the sketch as closely as possible and you'll be eligible for the Featured Cupcake Sampler honors.  If you upload your sketch to Splitcoast, use keyword TECC55 (for Taylored Expressions Cupcake Challenge 55).  Leave a comment on Taylor's blog with a link to your blog or gallery upload so Taylor can check it out.  The deadline to be eligible for the featured cupcake sampler is Monday February 16th at 8:00 am PST.

This week's Featured Cupcake Sampler is Jodi Collins!  You can check out Jodi's sample on her blog, Stamping A Latte.  Woohoo, Jodi!!!!

OCC Challenge, MTSC26

OCC-Emboss-Resist-Challenge Good morning!  It's Saturday and this week's OCC challenge is to use the Emboss Resist Technique on your card or project.  A little scary for me because I tend to shy away from techniques, but it ended up being a lot of fun!  I actually really love how my card turned out!  You can find all of the rockin' samples from the OCC team plus all of the challenge details on the OCC Blog.  There is no time limit on the challenge so feel free to participate when you can.  If you do participate don't forget to leave a link to your blog or gallery on the OCC blog so we can check out your sample!  If you upload to SCS, remember to use the keyword: OCCC

I used this technique on the red panel with the hearts.  Here's what I did:  I stamped the heart (from a SU! set called Big Bold Birthday) in Versamark on PTI White, heat embossed it with clear embossing powder and then sponged Riding Hood Red ink all over the panel.  When I got to the desired shade of red I was looking for I simply wiped over the hearts with a paper towel and the red ink wiped away!  Cool, I tell ya!!  LOL!

Card_sketch__162_copy The layout is from Mercy Kerin's Tuesday sketch challenge, MTSC26.  I LOVE Mercy's sketches because they always have a bunch of layers....but I digress!  I used the Stampin' Up! set, A Happy Heart.  This is another set that I've had for about two months and this is the first time it has seen ink....sigh....

I inked up the main image with Riding Hood Red and Kiwi Kiss ink.  It was cut out with Curved Rectangle Nestabilities and before I removed it from the die I sponged Pink Pirouette ink around the edges.  I love how it keeps the rim white.  Looks like a layer with actually layering it!!  The large PP panel was embossed with the Swiss Dots embossing folder.  All the piercing was done with a mat pack and piercing tool and the distressing was done with the SU! Cutter Kit.  The button is from Stampin' Up! and the velvet brads were a find at my LSS.

I hope you have a great Saturday and I appreciate you stopping by!!

TECC50 Stay Forever

TECC50-Stay-Forever_JP Hi everyone!  It's Friday and it's time for another one of Taylor's Cupcake Sketch Samplers!  I'm giving you a sneak peek of one of the fantastic sets that is being released by Verve Stamps tonight!  It's called Hundred Hearts and I just love it!!  We'll be partying it up over in the Verve Forum on Splitcoast from 8:00 - 10:00 pm EST!  Hope you can join us!

Here are a few details on the card:  I stamped one of the hearts from the set six times in Memento Tuxedo Black, colored it in with Copic markers, and then punched three out with a 7/8" circle punch.  The other three hearts I cut out and popped up on a dimensional.   I also added some sparkle to the hearts with a Copic Spica Glitter Pen although it's hard to tell from the picture.  You'll notice in Taylor's sketch below that the three circles are different sizes....I couldn't get it to look right so I kept my circles the same size.  The DP is Pink Pirouette patterns DSP.  The ribbon is Riding Hood Red Taffeta Ribbon.  Isn't the sentiment sweet?

TECC50  Now it's your turn to try the sketch. If you upload your sketch to Splitcoast, use keyword TECC50 (for Taylored Expressions Cupcake Challenge 50).  Leave a comment on Taylor's blog with a link to your blog or gallery upload so Taylor can check it out.  The deadline to be eligible for the featured cupcake sampler is Monday January 12th at 8:00 am PST.

SC205 Love Birds

SC205-Love-Birds_JP  Hi everyone!  I made this card for yesterday's sketch challenge over at Splitcoast.  I thought it would work perfectly with these adorable love birds from the Kim Hughes' set called The Birds and The Bees.  Love Kim's stamps....they are so whimisical, cute, and they're a ton of fun to color....

SC205-bird-close-up_JP Here are some details:  I stamped the birds in Memento Tuxedo Black and colored them in with Copic markers.  I cut them out with the Labels One dies from Spellbinders.  Before I took it out of the die, I sponged some Ranger Distress Ink in Tea Dye and Walnut Stain around the birds.  I LOVE this look.  It was layered on a Real Red Label that was sponged with Brick Red Distress Ink.  I did the same sponging on the sentiment.  It was punched out with a 7/8" circle punch and layered on a 1" circle of Real Red.  The background panels were stamped with a heart from the same set, colored in with Copics and heavily sponged with the same Distress Ink.  I also added some faux stitching with a mat pack, piercing tool and a Chocolate Chip marker.  The ribbon is Chocolate Chip wide grosgrain.  The finishing touch was some X-mas Red Stickles on both hearts!  Can I say I love this card?  Well, I do.....It will be going to my DH.  He loves when I use animal type stamps....they are his favorite!!

Before I go, I want to give a shout out to a new online company called I {heart} papers.  I found them on Paper Craft Planet and placed my first order from them on Sunday (Nov. 30th), in the evening, and I received my order today.  FANTASTIC!!  If you feel like shopping, you should check them out!!  ( I am in no way affiliated with this company, just a satisfied first time customer)

Have a great day!  I so appreciate you stopping by!!

Prettie Pearl Challenge

Prettie-Wednesday-Jessie's-  Hi everyone!!  Two weeks ago, Jessie challenge the Prettie girls to use pearls on their card or project and this is what I came up with!  I have lots of pearls but don't use them often enough, so this was a great challenge!

I have been making a ton of Christmas cards lately, so I decided to change it up a bit and  used the December Stamp of the Month from Paper Pretties called Sending You Love.  I just love this image of Sophia making her Valentine cards, her tongue out while she's writing....ADORABLE!!  If you love her as much as I do, then head on over to the Paper Pretties site and sign up for the Stamp of The Month club.   If you sign up by November 30th, you will receive this image in December....an entire month before it is released to the public!!

Here are a few details on the card:  The sketch is this week'sSketch for You To Try from Jen del Muro.  I just flipped it on its side.  Sophia was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black on  PTI White and colored in with Copics.  I stamped her a second time on Riding Hood Red Patterns DSP and cut from the table up and pieced it around her to make it look like wallpaper.  I cut out the main image with rectangle Nestabilities.  The ribbon is Riding Hood Red Taffeta and the pearls are from the Pretties Kit from Stampin' Up!  The DP is Riding Hood Red and Baja Breeze Patterns DSP.  And last but not least, the main image is popped up on dimensionals.

My card will be going to Jules.....hope she likes it!!  Don't forget to check out what all the other Prettie girls did with this challenge. You can find their links in my sidebar.

Thank you for stopping by!!

Happy Valentine's Day!!! and a couple Thank You's...

Jp_my_little_girls_valentine_cards_ Happy Valentine's Day!  I hope you are all having a great day with your loved ones...No big plans here, just a family dinner with my hubby and my two girls, and maybe a little chocolate cake for dessert! (insert smile here!!!)

Speaking of my girls, these are the cards that I made them to go with the little gift we got them.  They both love the Happy Heart Day set so I CASED a card that I CASED from the featured stamper challenge a couple weeks ago.  You can see that card here.

I am so in love with the new SU! striped grosgrain ribbon and the new Prints Pack DSP colors.  I hope SU! includes these new colors in the Fall/Winter catty!

Huge Thank you:

So, a few posts ago I thanked Becky Carafa for giving me the Excellent Blog Award and now I have two more people to thank for the same award!  A huge Thank You to Nancy Morgan whose blog, Paper Smiles, gives me inspiration everyday!  Thank you, Nancy.  You are so talented and I am honored...

The second Thank You goes out to one of MY new favorite stampers, Amy Sheffer. (I am sure she is not new to any of you)  Her blog Pickled Paper Designs is awesome and has quickly become one of my favs.  I about died when I was reading her blog earlier and she listed ME with a few other wonderful stampers for this award.  Thank you, Amy!!  It is truly an honor!!

Well, I'll be back tomorrow with a swap card that I have been working on for an SCS swap that I'm a part of for this weekend's Stampin' Up! Regionals Seminar in Oakland, CA!  Have a great day~

Hubby's Valentine

Sc162_hubby_valentine_jp I have to say that if I had to pick my favorite color combo, it would have to be pretty much any color with Chocolate Chip!  I love it with pretty in pink, bashful blue, soft sky, and now another new favorite, sage shadow!!!

This card follows today's sketch challenge over at Splitcoast.  I needed to make a Valentine card for my hubby, Frank, and this sketch was a great jumping off point.

I have been hoarding the now retired Outlaw DSP and decided it was time I start using it!   I also used the Love & Joy set from the Stampin' Up Holiday mini catalog.  I love that set.  I'm hoping it makes the next Fall/Winter catty!

The finished card is a 5" square.   Thanks for stopping by!

Nancy Morgan and Silke Ledlow CASE

Ncmorgan_valentine_case_jp_2 Aren't these mini Valentine tag treats darling?  I wish I could take credit for them, but I totally CASE'd the idea from Nancy Morgan's blog Paper Smiles.  She originally got the idea from Silke Ledlow on her blog My Life. All instructions are on both of their blogs.

I made 46 of these for my girls' classes for Valentine's Day.  They were so simple and really fun to make.  I needed something simple because I needed to make so many!

The Mouse tags are for the girls in my daughters' classes and the Sentiment tags are for all the boys in their classes.  Each one holds a Hershey Nugget.

Thanks for stopping by!  I'm off to watch the Superbowl!!

Featured Stamper Challenge #51

Fs51_jp_happy_ellie_jp I made this card for today's featured stamper challenge over at Splitcoast.  The featured stamper this Sunday is stampingpam.  Pam has a great gallery.  I chose to CASE this card.

The things I changed on this card are:

~Card size ~Color Combo ~Ribbon ~Sentiment placement.

I love how this card turned out!  The elephant is paper pieced with the Prints Pack DSP in Bashful Blue.  I added Crystal Effects to all of the hearts.  I also broke out my new Real Red Striped Grosgrain ribbon!

Now I need to get busy with some Valentine treats for my girls' classes!  I hope to have those posted in the next couple days.  Have a great Sunday!
