FS #130/Jodi CASE

 

Hi everyone!  Yesterday I decided to particpate in the Featured Stamper challenge over at SCS.  I don't normally do this because Sunday is kind of a family day.....Well, my girls were with my parents this weekend so I had a little time to stamp today before they came home!  This week's FS was the totally talented, Teresa Kline.  I am a big fan of Teresa's!  This is the card I chose to CASE.  This card was also HEAVILY INFLUENCED (if not completely CASED) by this GORGEOUS card made by my friend, Jodi Collins. 

I have had this Cosmo Cricket DP for awhile and after seeing Jodi's card, I had to pull it out and put it to use!  The main image is from Verve's beautiful set, Miracles Blossom.  The tulips were stamped in Memento Black ink and colored in with Copics.  I stamped the the tulips once again, colored and cut them out, then popped them up for dimension.  I also made them outside of the box (like Jodi) because I think it looks so awesome!!

WT216 Birthday Wishes

 

Hi everyone!  It's the weekend....Yay!!  I made this card for Thursday's Ways to Use It Challenge over at Splitcoaststampers.  The challenge was to use black....EASY!  I thought I would combine it with the Spring Rain Bitty Dot DP from Papertrey....yeah, I'm addicted to the Bitty Dots....

The flowers and sentiment are from the new Verve set, Wishful Elegance.  The stems for the flowers are from another Verve set, Thankful Blossoms.  I stamped the flowers in Memento Black ink on PTI White and colored them in with Copic Markers.  A second set was stamped, colored, cut out and popped up for dimension.  The flower centers are some designer brads I had in my stash.  I believe they are by Making Memories.  The sketch is an old one from Taylor Van Bruggen.  I used my sewing machine and those stitches aren't supposed to look like that!  Not sure what I did wrong but I LOVE how they almost look like a blanket stitch!  The sentiment was punched out with a key tag punch and I used a black Copic marker around the edge to give it some oomph.

FS106 Julie Lacey!!

  Hi everyone!  Every Sunday SCS hosts a Featured Stamper Challenge.  I don't always get to participate because that is really a day for the family to spend together.  Last Sunday it was stormy and rainy here and we had nowhere to go and when I saw the Featured Stamper was my friend Julie Lacey, I HAD to stamp!  I LOVE Julie's clean, crisp, uncluttered style.  This is the card I chose to CASE.  I loved it so much I kept it pretty close to the original.  The things I changed were:  colors, DP, ribbon, added stitching, a sentiment and some piercing.

SC204 Give Thanks

 First off I'd like to wish all of my friends from the United States a very Happy Thanksgiving!!  I hope you eat lots of turkey with all the fixin's and as much pumpkin pie as you can stand!!  I know that's what I'll be doing!!  We're headed off to my DH's Aunt's house in Capitola, CA for our Thanksgiving feast and then to another one of DH's Aunt's (she lives two houses down from us) for dessert!!

In honor of Thanksgiving, I made this card using yesterday's sketch challenge, SC204, over at Splitcoaststampers.  This adorable pumpkin bunny is from Verve and the set is called Hello Pumpkin. 

Here are a few details:  The color combo is Kraft, Always Artichoke, White and Pumpkin.  I used the paper tole technique (quickly becoming a favorite of mine) on the bunny.  You can see in this close up that I popped up his head and hat and then just his hat.  It gives so much dimension IRL.  I also stamped him on Kraft and colored him in with Copic markers.  I have been wanting to try that for so long.  The sentiment is from another Verve set called Tall Oaks.  The faux stitching was done with a mat pack, piercing tool and an Always Artichoke marker.  The ribbon is May Arts from my LSS.

WT188, SC198 Mad For Plaid

 

Hi everyone!!   Today is a double challenge card.  I combined today's Ways to Use it Challenge, Mad for Plaid, with yesterdays awesome sketch challenge!  I think I got enough plaid on this card, don't you think???  I just love this DP from Stampin' Up! called Muirfield.  The colors are so soft and beautiful!!

Here are some details:  The color combo is Baja Breeze, Kiwi Kiss and Very Vanilla.  I stamped the flower from Embrace Life in Memento Tuxedo Black onto Very Vanilla cs and sponged Baja Breeze ink darker in the center and lighter going to the edge.  Some of the edges were colored with a blender pen and Baja Breeze reinker.  It was cut out with paper snips.  The Baja Breeze circle was scored with the Scor-Pal.  I used a mix of Marvy punches and Circle Nestabilities to get all the circles.  The sentiment is from Birthday Basics from Papertrey Ink.  It was stamped in Pacific Point and punched out with a word window punch.  I added some piercing and dew drops in the corner and was finished!!  Hope you like it!

TLC190 Stair Step card!

 

Last week I told myself that I was going to start stretching myself creatively outside of my comfort zone.  I am really a routine, everything always the same, hate change kind of girl!!  I always am up for a sketch or color challenge, but it's not often that I participate in any other challenges.  After seeing the technique challenge this morning over at Splitcoast, I knew I was going to take the time to participate!  I've never made a stair step card so I mustered up some courage (dramatic, I know) and took the plunge!!

Now, let's just say this card is WAAAAYY out of my comfort zone, but I'm pretty pleased with the results.  I'm not sure how I feel about the two stars in the center panel, but I'm liking the rest....I think!  LOL!!  I used my new Christmas Classics set again along with the Ski Slope DSP which I absolutely love!

So here are a few details:  The base of the card is Chocolate Chip cs.  The DP is Ski Slope DSP from SU!  I masked the trees in order to get them stamped so close together.  The center tree is popped up on dimensionals.  For the sentiment, I first stamped the holly in Kiwi Kiss and then stamped Merry Christmas over the holly in Chocolate Chip.  It was then cut out with oval Nestabilities.  The stars were stamped in Real Red and Baja Breeze, cut out, and then adhered to a large star punch of coordinating cardstock.  I punched a small star with the same cardstock and adhered them together with a silver brad.  The chocolate felt ribbon and the felt snowflakes on the front panel are from the SU! Holiday mini.

LSC189, WKD1008A Starry Christmas!

 

Happy Saturday!   Late yesterday morning I received an order from Stampin' Up! and I couldn't wait to get my new sets mounted and inky!

I don't normally participate in the Limited Supply Challenge,  frankly because it's so hard, but I decided earlier in the week that I wanted to participate in more challenges than the color and sketch challenges, so I gave it a go!!  I also combined it with the Wicked Color Challenge over on the demo side of SCS.  The Wicked color challenge colors are Always Artichoke, Rididng Hood Red, Whisper White and Kraft.   Here are the rules for the LSC:

* ROCK: Only embellishments that are gems, such as pearls and rhinestones – anything with sparkle or bling! Rock can ALSO mean anything metal, as in hardware!

* PAPER: Any kind of paper, including designer and patterned papers. Bonus points for metallic papers that would also fit in with ROCK (silver, gold, copper, garnet, sapphire, etc.)! (For those new to the challenges, “Bonus Points” are really non-existent points – there is no contest, just give yourself an extra pat on the back!)

* SCISSORS: Only decorative scissors and straight cut paper cutters. No Nestabilities, Cuttlebug, Big Shot, punches, etc.

Wow...I never knew how much I relied on my "tools" to make a card!!!  It took me awhile, but I did it!!

Here are some details:  This card is Stampin' Up! only (woohoo!!!)... The card base is a 5 1/4" square of Kraft cs.  The next layer is Riding Hood Red, then Whisper White, then a square of Always Artichoke Patterns DSP from the Level 1 hostess paper pack.  I used the new set Christmas Classics from SU!.  The stars from that set were stamped in Riding Hood Red on four 1 3/4" squares that I cut with my paper cutter.  All four squares were adhered to a square of Riding Hood Red cs.  I then took my paper piercer and mat pack and pierced around each square.   I then stamped four more stars on Whisper White and cut them out with paper snips (remember, no punches).  I added a rhinestone brad (SU!) to the center of each star and popped the star up on dimensionals.  The sentiment was stamped in Always Artichoke on Whisper White and was layered on a piece of RHR cs.  I added some piercing around the striped Artichoke layer and a double row piercing to the bottom of the card and it was done!

Quadruple Challenge...

 

I love to do challenges...I love to stamp everyday, but what keeps me motivated to stamp are all the different challenges.  Now I wish I could do every challenge that came down the pike, but realistically I can't as I'm sure many of you cannot!  To solve that problem today, I decided to combine four challenges!!

This card combines today's Ways to Use It Challenge (WT185) to use a charm on your card, Julee Tilman's Mojo Sketch #54, Jen del Muro's Meet the Verve Diva Challenge 12 (to use purple), and Verve's Gettin' Krafty Project Parade Challenge (to use Kraft or natural fibers on your card).  Are you tired yet?

I am truly happy with how this card turned out.  I hardly ever use purple, but I absolutely love Elegant Eggplant because it is so rich and deep.  Here it is paired with Kraft and white....a stunning color combo IMO!!

So here are a few details:  The charm is from my LSS and is tied on the card with Linen Thread.  The main image butterfly was stamped once on Kraft cs and then again on PTI White with Elegant Eggplant classic ink and then cut out with paper snips.  The body of the butterfly is two word window punches of Kraft cs cut to fit the body.  I also added Crystal Effects to the body.  The two embossed lines down the left side of the main image were done with the Scor-Pal.  The Elegant Eggplant scallops were done with Stampin' Up's! new scallop edge punch.  The Kraft patterned paper is from the Hostess Patterns DSP paper pack from Stampin' Up!

SC195 Season of Friendship

 

Hi everyone!  Don't you just love when an idea you had comes together just as you had hoped?  Well, that's what happened today when I sat down to do today's sketch challenge, SC195, over at Splitcoast.

I recently purchased a set from Stampin' Up! called Season of Friendship (available October 1st).  Before the sketch challenge was posted I was hoping that it would be a sketch that would accomodate the entire image (it's kind of a big tree).  Once the challenge was posted I felt that the sketch would not accomodate the entire image and remembered a card that my super talented and very good friend, Becky, aka beccabatgirl, had done with just one of the tree branches.   I ran with the idea and I just love how this card turned out!!  Thank you brilliant Becky!!!

Here are a few details:  I stamped just one branch from the tree using a Chocolate Chip marker.  The leaves were stamped in Sage Shadow classic ink.  I cut out the oval with my Nestabilities and mounted it on a larger Chocolate Chip nestie.  The bird was stamped on PTI White with Really Rust classic ink and was cut out and attached to the branch with mini glue dots.  The beautiful DP is the new Autumn Vine DSP from Stampin' Up! and is also available October 1st.

Hi everyone!  Yesterday I was able to participate in the weekly featured stamper challenge over at Splitcoast.  The Star of the day was Shannon (E3Stamper).  Not only does she have an awesome gallery, but she leaves the nicest comments for so many, including me!!  It was a hard decision, but I chose this beauty of Shannon's to case.

If you're not familiar with the featured stamper challenge, the rules are this:  You must choose a card from the FS gallery and change at least two elements, hence, make it your own.  I wanted to keep mine as close to Shannon's because I thought her's was so pretty.  Here is what I changed:

The colors I chose to use were Always Artichoke and More Mustard.  Now two months ago I would not have been caught dead using More Mustard, but since the new SU! catty came out I have ordered everything in More Mustard!  LOL!  I love it!  The stamp sets I used were the new Eastern Blooms and All Holidays.  I inked up the main image using an Always Artichoke & More Mustard marker then huffed on the stamp to moisten it and stamped it on PTI White.  The larger flowers were stamped in AA on PTI White and I sponged MM on to give it a softer look.  I added a AA brad and some crystal effects to make the flowers shine.  The scallops were done with the new SU! scallop punch.  Finished card is 3 1/4" X 6 1/4".

Well, I'm off to get my girls ready for the opening show of Dancing With the Stars.  My girls are giddy because it's their favorite show!!
