Hi there!  I hope you're all having a nice weekend so far!  The weather here is so beautiful!  My parents took the girls for the day so hubby and I had some nice quiet time around the house!  He had a NASTY bug on Thursday and Friday and spent most of the day recuperating so I was able to stamp!  

After seeing Taylor's sketch yesterday, I knew I had to make time to participate!  I used two new sets recently released by Taylored Expressions,Make the Grade and theExtra Credit mini set!  Teacher Appreciation is just around the corner and I need just a couple more cards and I'll be done!  I am never this organized!  Feels good!

Here are a few deets:  The book image was stamped twice, colored with Copics, cut out and stacked on top on each other.  The apple and sentiment are from the Extra Credit Mini set.  The dp is a combination of October Afternoon Cherry Hill and Report Card.  I think I'm addicted to October Afternoon dp....I just can't get enough!  Anywho...I added some machine stitching and actually sewed my buttons to the card and called it done!

New Crafter's Workshop at Taylored Expressions!

Hi there!  Taylored Expressions is hosting a blog hop today to showcase the new Crafter's Workshop templates now available at the Taylored Expressions store!  I have a list of all the participating Baker's Dozen at the end of my post!

The Crafter's Workshop templates are so cool!  My card showcases the new Star Shower Template.

 
Here are some details on how I made my cards.  I started with my template, a sponge dauber and some pigment ink.  I bought some Claudia Helmuth Sticky Back Canvas awhile back at my Local Scrap Store and have been itching to use it, so I thought I would give it a try with the template!  Oh. My. Word......I am in love with the outcome! You can click on the picture to get a better view of the texture of the inked canvas!  I simply taped the corners of my template to the canvas and sponged on the ink in circular motions with a sponge dauber until I got the coverage I desired.  It looks so amazing....just like fabric!   I used Sweet Blush and Spring Rain pigment ink (PTI).

I paired the canvas with one of my favorite Taylored Expressions sets, Beary Special, to make two simple baby cards!  I stamped the bears in Memento Tuxedo Black, colored in with Copics, cut out with Square nesties and then layered on a Big Scallop Square Nestie.  I then went back and paper pieced the patch, feet and ears with Bitty Box DP by PTI.  The large embossed scallop is from EK Success.  A little ribbon and I called it done!

TE April Key Ingredients Subscription Challenge!

It's time for the monthly Key Ingredients Subscription Challenge from Taylored Expressions!  If you're already a subscriber you may have already received your kit!  I {heart} this month's kit!  The kit this month features the Material Girl patterned paper from Cosmo Cricket along with lots of fun sewing themed embellishments! So what better thing to embellish your card than stitching! Use your sewing machine, hand-stitching, faux stitching somewhere on your card.

I love making these easel cards, so it was an easy choice for me when I sat down to create!  My finished easel is 5x5.  You can find a great tutorial here.

I used a previously released set from Taylored Expressions called Crafty Cuppie.  While you don't need TE stamps to use this kit, they are a perfect compliment!!  I stamped Sewing Cuppie in Memento Tuxedo Black on Choice Buttercream, colored her in with Copics and cut her out with Classic Circle and Scallop Circle Nestabilities.  I also paper pieced the material she is sewing.  My favorite part of this card is that DARLING twill ribbon that comes in this kit and the bottom portion of my card!  I took the chipboard spool that comes with the kit, colored it with a Copic Marker and then wrapped some twine around it and threaded that twine through three of the many buttons that come with the kit!  I framed it around the sentiment, also from Crafty Cuppie!  So what do you think?

This is just the tip of the iceberg as far as what you can make with this kit!  I have enough supplies left to make MANY more cards!  In fact, the KI kits have enough supplies to make approximately 16 cards!

The Great Teacher Inspires {TESC 108}

 
Good Tuesday morning!!  I hope your week is off to a great start!  My girls and I have a busy day ahead and it all starts with a dentist appointment for me.  YUCK....I really don't like going to the dentist, but I actually LOVE my dentist, so that makes it a little more tolerable!

Anywho....I sat down to create something last night so I pulled out the newly released set from Taylored Expressions, Make The Grade.  Teacher Appreciation week is coming up in May so I thought I'd get a head start on some cards and gifty stuff for my girls' teachers.  I've already made one gifty set with Make The Grade, you can see it here.  I have a few more ideas swirling around my head, but I decided to start with this card.

I started with this week's sketch challenge from Taylor, TESC 108, and used a combination of Cherry Hill and Report Card DP by October Afternoon.  I love the color blocked look of this sketch!  I wanted the main image to look like a book, so after stamping the sentiment, I cut it out with Labels 7 Nestabilities.  I sponged a combo of Antique Linen and Tea Dye Distress Inks by Ranger around the image before removing it from the die.  The apple is from the Mini Extra Credit set and was popped up for dimension.  The twill ribbon is from Stampin' Up and the buttons are from Papertrey.  If you look really close, you can see that I stitched some green embroidery floss in the upper left corner. I'm really happy with how this turned out!

Taylored Expressions Release Day!

Yes, it's release day at Taylored Expressions!  All the sets you've seen so far including the new set the Baker's Dozen is sneaking today, Let's Do Coffee, are now available for purchase at the Taylored Expressions Store! 

 

The final sneak you're getting today is of an adorable new set from the Apple Doodle Ink Line called Let's Do Coffee!  Tena is back and looking fab while she's sipping on her coffee!   Tena was inked up in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Copics.  She was cut out with Square Nestabilities.  I used my new Corner Chomper to round the corners and then layered her on aBig Scallop Square Nestability!  I love what Karen and Taylor have been doing with these large scallop Nesties, so I ordered a couple shapes myself!  Can you say swoon????  Love 'em!  The DP is the new October Afternoon Thrift Shop.  I saw this dp at CHA and couldn't wait to get my hands on it!  The ribbon and cardstock are Hawaiian Shores from PTI.  A little machine stitching and I called it done!  Oh, and I finished the inside!!  I couldn't find a spot to put my sentiment so I put it on the inside!

Taylored Expressions Sneak Peeks Day 2!

Welcome back to day two of the Taylored Expressions Sneak Peeks!  Today the Baker's Dozen are showing you samples of a brand new set called Make The Grade, plus sneaks of a new mini set called Extra Credit and the new A la Carte Cuppies!!!  Everything you see today coordinate with each other or stand alone perfectly!!    There is lots to get to so I'll stop gabbin'!

 

This first set showcases the fantastic new set Make The Grade.  I decided to make a gift set for one of my daughter's teachers.  I made this adorable apple basket and a coordinating card.  The basket is simply four Nested Apple dies from Spellbinders (the largest apple) that were embossed with the Swiss Dots embossing folder and attached to the bottom of a 3x3 notecard box (tutorial here).  The leaf is from another TE set, Luxurious Labels, and the DP is October Afternoon Report Card!  The scallops on the handle were done with a Scallop Edge Punch.  I intended to fill my basket with some chocolates, but it seems two young girls who shall remain nameless ate most of them!!  So it looks like I'll need to head to the store so I can fill it up!

 
The card is 5x5 and was made with the same elements I used on the basket.  The report card is part of Make the Grade and was stamped with two of the sentiments from the set in Pure Poppy ink.  I roughed up the edges a bit with some scissors and added some stitching, New Leaf Twill Ribbon and a Pure Poppy button that was threaded with vintage twine.

 
This card is the last I have to show you today.  It is an easel card that was made with one of the new A la Carte Cuppies and the new mini set, Extra Credit.  Since I had all of the materials out on my desk from the above set, I decided to use them on this card!  I paper pieced Cuppie's liner and used the smallest Nested Apple.  The sentiment is from Extra Credit and was cut out with Spellbinders Labels Trio.  Doesn't Cuppie look so cute?  Also, if you haven't made an easel card yet you MUST!  They are super simple and so much fun!

Taylored Expresssions Sneak Peek Day 1!!

That's right, it's day one of the Taylored Expressions sneak peek and are you in store for some fantastic new sets!  Today the Baker's Dozen are showing you sneak peeks of two new sets, CreativeTEA and Miniature Motifs, designed by Nancy McKinney.  I am also giving you a peek at ONE of the THREE new card kits that Taylor will be releasing on Thursday April 8th!   So grab a cuppa 'cause I have a long post to share with you today!

 
First up is the new set, CreativiTEA paired with the Paper Girl Card Kit.  Can you say SWOON???  The card kit contains patterned paper from The Girls Paperie, coordinating cardstock & ribbon, a package of KaiserCraft Bliss Adhesive Pearls a Perfect Package Card Box plus envelopes!  You also receive a downloadable inspiration sheet for each card kit you order!   I made this card set and decorated the Perfect Package Card Box and still have SO MUCH product left over!  The card kits sell for 14.95 and is well worth every penny, IMO!  Taylor has a very informative video for you to watch regarding this card kit, so to view it just click here.

I made a set of four cards using four different patterns from the kit.  They are clean and fairly simple and really took no time to put together!  I used the flower image from CreativiTEA and two of the sentiments, Happy Birthday and Thank You.

I used Classic and Scallop Oval Nestabilities for the main oval and Spellbinders Labels Trio for the sentiments.  I also added some machine stitching around the edge of the patterned paper panel.

This is the Perfect Package Card Box that will house this set of cards.  I kept it fairly simple and used the same layout and elements that were used on the cards.  To make the sentiment for the box, I took two of the sentiments from CreativiTEA, "Time For Tea" and "Missing You" and masked out the words "for" and "you"  and got them to line up perfectly using my Stamp-a-ma-jig.

This is my final card to share with you today!  I used the new Miniature Motifs and CreativiTEA for this card, along with elements from the Paper Girl Card Kit.  The two lighter pink panels were stamped with one of the patterns from Miniature Motifs.  Miniature Motifs is an ATC size set of four mini backgrounds and they coordinate PERFECTLY with CreativiTEA.  And see the sentiment?  LOVE it!!   Hope you're not getting sick of the ruffled ribbon!!  LOL~

SFYTT for Susan & Eric

 

Hi there!  I can't believe the weekend is over and today is Monday!  I don't know about you, but I happen to {heart} Mondays!  I just love getting back to the routine of the week! 

Anywho, I took a little time in my craft area yesterday and came up with this card!  I used Jen's Sketch For You To Try from last week and paired it with the new Easter Blessings set from Taylored Expressions!   Jen dedicated last week's sketch to Susan Liles and her husband Eric.  Eric was recently diagnosed with an agressive form of cancer.  You can read about their story here.  Jen also asked her readers to send the card they made with this sketch to Susan and her hubby....so that's what I'm going to do!  Susan is really facing this difficult time with a great attitude.  She has a great sense of humor and that shows in her writing!  I hope you will take some time to read their story!

Okay....onto some details:   I don't use black cardstock very much, but I LOVE the dramatic look it gives a card!  I stamped the cross in Old Olive two times on Choice Snow White and popped the second one up for some dimension.  The sponging around the cross was done with Soft Sky ink.  The DP is the new Basic Grey Kioshi.

TE Center of Attention Product Spotlight ~ Metal Squares

Hi there!  Once a month half of the Baker's Dozen Design Team features a product sold in the Taylored Expressions store.  This month we are showing you different ways to use the coolest product....Metal Squares!  They are sold in sets of 8 4x4 sheets of aluminum, copper, or a mix of both!  All Metal Squares are 15% off now through March 28th!

 

I paired the aluminum metal sheets with the newly released set from the Taylored Expressions Giving Tree Program, You're My Hero, and the Rockstar Key Ingredients Kit.  After choosing my dp (WeRMemory Keepers Teen Angst) I found the aluminum metal sheet to be a perfect match to the silver stripe in the dp.   I die cut two metal sheet stars using the Nested Star by Spellbinders.  I then embossed both stars with the Swiss Dots embossing folder using my Cuttlebug.  I stamped the guitar from You're My Hero in Memento Tuxedo Black, cut it out and popped it up on dimensionals.  I added a little bit of Baby Blue Copic Spica Glitter Pen to the tuning buttons at the top of the neck of the guitar.  The You ROCK sentiment was stamped in Enchanted Evening ink onto the patterned paper.  I felt the card needed a bit more, so I took a little more of the aluminum metal sheet and cut some scallops using the the medium scallop die from Papertrey.  A little "wonkie" black stitching and the cool black ribbon and I called it done!

{MTSC65} Chick Time

 

Hi there Peeps!  I have been CRAZY busy with my girls for the past week and my stamping time has suffered greatly, hence the tardy post with Mercy's sketch {MTSC65}!  I was really scared of this week's sketch!  The three panels intimidated me quite a bit, but I conquered them and ended up really loving this sketch!

I used the newly released Favorite Peeps from Taylored Expressions.  I ADORE this set...so many cute images and sentiments!  I chose to use the chick on the branch since that particular image had not seen ink yet!  It was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black on Choice Snow White, colored with Copics and cut out with Circle Nestabilities.  It was layered on a Blossom Nestabilities.  All of the cardstock, Basic Grey Kioshi DP, ribbon and flowers come from the Easter Key Ingredients Kit.  These kits are awesome, because everything coordinates so there is no guessing involved when you sit down to create!
